Checking Phone battery: Tracking my Stress Level

Here to see different period's data:

Question: Will the low remaining battery of my phone drive me to stress?

Hypothesis: As my phone's remaining battery decreases, my stress level increases. As the date I recorded data increases, the frequency I check my battery decreases.

Data Collection: The data I visualized here is remaining battery, frequency I check the phone each day, and my stress level. I designed to collect a lot of data before, but I didn't use most of it in the term project. This is the original data I collected:

Data To Be Collected Units or Scale Expected Range of Values Data Information
Date and Time of battery check Date Hour and minutes Year-Month-Day-Time(0:00-23:59) To check the frequency I check my phone battery. This can show how much I care about the battery of my phone.
Battery % 0%-100% Compare this value with my mood to check how it influence myself.
Location Name of a location Eg. home/ campus/ market This may show how distance between where i am and my home influence my stress level.
Charging cable with me Yes or No Yes or no My stress level might be influenced when I can re-charge.
Re-charge time Hours and minute 0:00 - 23:59 This will influence the Battery value when I check it.
End re-charge time Hours and minute 0:00 - 23:59 This will influence the Battery value when I check it.
Time I go out of home Hours and minutes 0:00 - 23:59 This will influence the usage of phone.
Time I get back to home Hours and minutes 0:00 - 23:59 This will influence the usage of phone.
My stress level when I check the battery Relax to stress 0-10 How I feel when I get the level of the battery.
My stress level when I start re-charging Relax to stress 0-10 How I feel when I can recharge
My stress level when I end re-charging Relax to stress 0-10 How I feel when I end of recharge
What I am doing when I check battery Thing I am doing eg. Gaming, chatting, cooking This may influence my attitude to my phone battery

The light yellow data is what I used in the final visualization. I did not directly use the Date and Time of battery check but used it to summarize the frequency of checking the phone daily.

The dark gray data is the data I stopped recording due to the difficulties in recording (Time out and back to home, End re-charge time, stress level when I start or end re-charging) or too complicated data type(What I am doing when I check battery)

The reason why I did not use all the recorded data is that in the previous scatter plots drawing, I did not find the correlation between them and my stress level.

Conclusions:Through visualization, I found that the phone's remaining battery power will have a significant impact on my stress level. Its trend is in line with my hypothesis: My stress level increases as my phone's remaining battery decreases. From the battery position in the figure, most of the batteries at a higher stress level are red and accompanied by very low power. The green colors with high batteries distribute at the bottom of the chart.

And my second hypothesis: As the date that I recorded data increases, the frequency I check my battery decreases. After dividing all the data into three graphs, I can find that the frequency of checking the battery level of the mobile phone in the first graph every day is higher than the second and third graphs.

In addition, the daily maximum stress levels of the three graphs show a continuous decreasing trend. This indicates that through constant tracking of the battery power and my stress level, the impact of the phone's low battery on me is diminishing. And in the last chart, the phenomenon that the red and yellow points gradually move downwards over time can also support this conclusion.

In the last table that puts all the data together, The blue and green areas (represent the highest and the average stress level of each day) decrease as the recording date increases. This means my emotional fluctuations from the mobile phone's battery are also getting smaller.

I think this data visualization is of great significance to me. This process helped me reduce my sensitivity to this phenomenon after clarifying the impact of mobile phone battery power on me.
